December 2, 2020 Hello, Congratulations on your marriage! The web site is great! My Partner & I have been together for 9 years, and are in the process of considering getting married. We both realize that "considering" doesn't sound at all romantic. However, a few years ago we drafted Wills, "Power of Attorney", Joint ownership of our real estate, business, possessions, and pretty much everything else. We are very happy and hope to be together for a very long time. We are looking for more information that might help in our decision to legally marry or not, as we feel we have done pretty much everything to acknowledge and protect our lives together. The only thing missing is a wedding license. We are very grateful to all of your efforts, and thrilled we now have a choice. Thank you, Michael Dwyer & David
Marshall December 10, 2020 Great website. I noticed that the links to the committee’s hearings do not include the final hearing In Iqaluit, Nunavut. I made a presentation, as did Allison Brewer of Iqaluit Pride and Friends of Pride, and others including a nasty woman from Steinbach Manitoba who afterwards spent time telling Allison’s daughter how her life would be affected adversely when she got older, being the child of a same-sex couple. I encourage you to include the Nunavut piece as it was the last stop on the cross-country hearings. Thanks. Maureen Doherty Thank you for bringing this oversight to our attention! We have updated our web site to include the Apr.30th testimony. The minutes from the Apr. 30th committee proceedings are now included in our list. And we have included your testimony in our list of submissions. We greatly appreciate your support (and watchful eye!). Hi Kevin and Joe, My name is Heather MacIntosh and I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa and a recently wedded lesbian. I am currently working on a research study that will look at the impact of the legalization of same sex marriage on couples, both those who chose to and not to get married. I am trying to get the word out across Ontario to look for participants and folks who aren't in Ottawa can participate through a telephone/conference call or online three way chat and by sending in a couple of short questionnaires about their relationship and their own feelings through the mail. I would really appreciate any assistance that you could offer in terms of spreading the word to you and yours and perhaps even posting the article or making mention of the study on your site. I have attached an article that was run on the study through Capital Xtra here in Ottawa. Thanks, Heather
